What do we believe

Just as every human being is social by nature, every human being is an artist by nature. We are created in the image of the Divine Creator, and thus are called to share the Creator’s work by continuing the work of creation. The very first, necessary and inevitable challenge to that calling is to craft and shape our own lives. We are called to fashion our humanity and by extension to fashion our society, to exercise creative dominion over the world around us. To fail in this is to have missed in large measure the point of living.

Everyone leaves a stroke on the canvas of the universe. Do we leave our stroke with care, love and taste, reconciling the communal struggle to craft a masterpiece….or, like a wrong note in the cosmic symphony, do we contribute to dissonance and discord? No one can be without effect. To have lived is to have left a legacy. . .the stroke of a brush or the sound of a note regardless of how soft the touch. Creativity is a part of who we are. It is why we procreate, propagate, increase and multiply.

The goal of our creativity, however, is not solely to express, but to share our expression, our feelings and our struggle . . .And, yes, and perhaps not our struggle only, but that which we struggle to feel, recognize or grasp with our mind. And that is accomplished only by love. When the Divine artist created us, He appreciated His creation; He saw that it was good. He created us in His image – good, beautiful, merciful, loving, thinking creative.

Philosophers tell us that what we do flows from what we are: see what it does and I will tell you what it is. The impetus within us to create will not be denied. It is in each of us like some atomic reactor always approaching critical mass at which point it explodes with a new creation for good or evil. Only the right thinking mind is able to guide and direct it. . .must guide and direct it. And that guidance and direction must be fueled and empowered by knowledge and love. Art, is about care, love; and when you craft it – share it.
